Meet the Board

The Network of Enlightened Women strives in giving young females the confidence to be empowered leaders and take a stand on topics that interest them. This year, four hardworking women vowed to uphold that and became officers of the UNC Charlotte Chapter of NeW.

President Sasha Duncan is a graduating senior majoring in Communications with a concentration in Mass Media while minoring in Sociology. Sasha is highly active on campus and in the community. As a student of UNC Charlotte, she is a sister of the Delta Zeta Sorority, the former Vice-Chairman of College Republicans, and an active member of Real Estate Club as well as the American Marketing Association. In the community, Sasha serves as the Public Relations Chair of the Mecklenburg Evening Republican Women's Club and the Campaign Coordinator for Brandon Pierce for City Council at Large. Sasha has recently started her own marketing agency, Duncan Design which caters to local Charlotte campaigns and small businesses.

Emma Schambach is a senior double majoring in Communications and Political Science and serves as Vice-President of NeW. Emma is an ambitious activist on campus and in the community. On UNC Charlotte's campus, Emma is involved in Young Americans for Liberty, She's the First, Delight and Kingdom Culture. As a community activist, Emma serves as the Campus Liason for Mecklenburg County Young Republicans on the Executive Board. A former intern of League of Women Voters, Emma strives to educate citizens on the importance of their vote. Emma is planning on attending Law School after graduation in December.

Press-Secretary Olivia Tikalsky is a sophomore majoring in Business while minoring in Women and Gender Studies. Olivia is a social media engagement specialist focused on sharing NeW's passion for educating, enlightening, and empowering young women with all our loyal followers. Olivia is an active member of Young Americans for Liberty where she expresses her independent ideologies and truly brings a diverse opinion to NeW's discussions.

Originally from New Jersey, Kelly VonEnde serves as Treasurer of NeW. Kelly is a sophomore double majoring in Criminal Justice and Political Science. As a former recognized Emerging Leader on UNC Charlotte's campus, Kelly is now an engaged member of College Republicans and Special Olympics. As a member of College Republicans, Kelly was an active volunteer on the Mark Harris for Congress campaign. She continues to express her interest in getting involved with policymaking by attending conferences with the Leadership Institute, John Locke Foundation, and John William Pope Foundation.

The Network of enlightened Women is a nationally expanding organization focusing on empowering young women on college campuses all across the country. In doing so, they are building confidence, appearance, and knowledge. The nationally recognized organization, Network of enlightened Women, branches off of traditional values and implementing them into today's society. While this organization focuses the majority of its time towards empowering women, it also has a large influence in politics. The UNC Charlotte NeW chapter is rapidly expanding and has big plans for the upcoming months! Through bi-weekly meetings and social events, this club is sure to make an impact on this campus!

Veteran’s Day is a day taken out of each year to focus on the true sacrifices individuals have made for our country. The University of North Carolina at Charlotte Chapter of Network of enlightened Women paired up with the College Republicans on campus to raise awareness for a particular non-profit organization, The Independence Fund. The Independence Fund is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina whose mission is to empower severely wounded veterans and their caregivers by providing resources and tools to assist them with their physical, mental, and emotional wounds. They work tirelessly to ensure veterans are able to regain their independence through their Mobility Program. This specific program provides all-terrain mobility devices to ensure that veterans can continue their daily routines. Jasmine Alvarez is a junior at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte majoring in Psychology. This is her first semester in Charlotte, but she is already quite active with NeW! How did you first hear about NeW? "I first heard about NeW through Jessica Martinez, who is a really great friend of mine. She encouraged me to go to the National Conference." What made you want to become involved in NeW? "What made me want to be involved in NeW was after going to the National Conference in DC in June 2018. Through meeting several conservative women, I have wanted to become more involved with networking and learning more about NeW’s message.
