Fall of 2017, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte's campus welcomed a new up and coming club to their roster! The Network of enlightened Women is a nationally expanding organization focusing on empowering young women on college campuses all across the country. In doing so, they are building confidence, appearance, and knowledge. The nationally recognized organization, Network of enlightened Women, branches off of traditional values and implementing them into today's society. While this organization focuses the majority of its time towards empowering women, it also has a large influence in politics. The UNC Charlotte NeW chapter is rapidly expanding and has big plans for the upcoming months! Through bi-weekly meetings and social events, this club is sure to make an impact on this campus!
Veteran’s Day is a day taken out of each year to focus on the true sacrifices individuals have made for our country. The University of North Carolina at Charlotte Chapter of Network of enlightened Women paired up with the College Republicans on campus to raise awareness for a particular non-profit organization, The Independence Fund. The Independence Fund is headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina whose mission is to empower severely wounded veterans and their caregivers by providing resources and tools to assist them with their physical, mental, and emotional wounds. They work tirelessly to ensure veterans are able to regain their independence through their Mobility Program. This specific program provides all-terrain mobility devices to ensure that veterans can continue their daily routines. Jasmine Alvarez is a junior at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte majoring in Psychology. This is her first semester in Charlotte, but she is already quite active with NeW! How did you first hear about NeW? "I first heard about NeW through Jessica Martinez, who is a really great friend of mine. She encouraged me to go to the National Conference." What made you want to become involved in NeW? "What made me want to be involved in NeW was after going to the National Conference in DC in June 2018. Through meeting several conservative women, I have wanted to become more involved with networking and learning more about NeW’s message. Becoming invol ved in NeW, it has challenged my liberal thinking and has made me want to become more involved in NeW’s mission." What is your all-time favorite NeW event you’ve attended?
